Aeolian

December 07 2009 – thisisknit

This week's knitting sample of lusciousness is Siobhan's Aeolian Shawl: Knit from just one skein of Schaefer Anne yarn, a wool, mohair and nylon blend that is often used for mega luxurious socks but which really comes in to its own in projects such as this. Aeolian 1 This yarn is hand-dyed, and comes in a wide range of shades, but it was important for this shawl that the chosen skein featured broadly similar colours. Wider colour variations would not have been quite so pleasing to the eye, and would have obscured the lace pattern. The fern green and neutral shade combination worked very well and there are also a number of semi-solid colourways that would suit this pattern down to the ground. We have this shawl and a few other of Siobhan's wonderful lace samples on display in the shop at the moment so you can stop by and check them out in more detail any time you are nearby... :D
